Charlie Hope Ushers Little Ones to World of Dreams

Parents struggling to soothe a tired baby or calm a cranky child may kiss the feet of singer-songwriter Charlie Hope, once they taste her latest elixir – an ethereal lullaby CD just out on the Little Maple Leaf Productions label.

Like dandelion fuzz wafting on the wind, the heartfelt lyrics and melodies of “World of Dreams” drift and swirl, carrying listeners off on daydreams and to the realm of slumber. With a name like Hope, it was inevitable that Charlie’s lyrics would echo the love and dreams that parents have for their babies. “…I’ll believe in you – in all and everything you do.”

“Charlie Hope’s music is one of our sweeter products,” said Rob Wilson of Challenge & Fun, a wholesaler of natural toys and merchandise for children. “She’s kind of like a modern-day Pied Piper. Her voice is so peaceful in ‘World of Dreams’ that I think even the most sleep-resistant child would be coaxed into a quieter frame of mind.”

Hope’s approach to music stems from her years of experience working with children, both in preschools and privately. Music is an integral part of a child’s well-being, says Hope, who has a bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy with Children from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Music can help children express their inner thoughts and empower them – something the singer-songwriter says she experienced while growing up. “…I can do anything in Dream Land.”

“World of Dreams” is the second release by Hope, whose debut CD – “I’m Me!” – garnered Silver Honors from Parents’ Choice Awards judges this fall.

“I had an email in my inbox one morning that informed me of the award,” recalled Hope, an L.A.-based singer, who grew up in Toronto and Boston harmonizing with her sister and singing in school choirs. “It was very exciting to see my CD listed online with all the other albums.”

Hope’s rhythmic guitar pairs nicely with her enchanting Enya-esque voice, coaxing parents to take in a deep breath, too. In seep images of sun, moon, rain and balloons, and out seep anxious thoughts. “…Let your thoughts go, and close your eyes.”
